General Criteria
- The person you nominate must carry on business in the former City of Nepean or be a member of the Greater Nepean Chamber of commerce.
- In the case of Businessman and Businesswoman of the Year, the person you nominate must carry on business or live in the former city of Nepean to be eligible.
- A maximum of 10 nominations per award category will be considered each year.
Categories
BUSINESSMAN AND BUSINESSWOMAN OF THE YEAR
A leader in the business community; a track record of business success; a record of community involvement; demonstrated results of quality product/service; demonstrated results of creative, well-planned and effective marketing and/or business strategy; a contributor to job creation and/or development of people.
SERVICE CLUB / NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION OF THE YEAR
A volunteer-driven organization that actively participates in the community; demonstrates a high degree of support and assistance to others; provides resourceful, innovative & meaningful programs in support of worthy community or international causes.
EXCEPTIONAL EMPLOYEE AWARD
A self-motivated, high energy person that demonstrates leadership within the employee pool through mentoring of newer employees and providing customer service beyond the expectations of the customer. This individual is personable, friendly and helpful to customers and staff alike. They see the work that has to be done, and do it without direction or concern for the time clock. They are a proud reflection of the company they work for.
EXCEPTIONAL WEB SITE AWARD
In today’s business world, the Internet is becoming more the rule than the exception. Businesses today know the value of having their information on their own web site and an increasing number now let you purchase on -line over secure networks. Should provide ready access, be informative, tasteful, contains important instruction cues, is easy to navigate, rapidly downloads and has links to related internet sites
PROFESSIONAL SERVICES AWARD
Not unlike the Businessman and Businesswoman categories although it is confined to that segment of the business population what does not get a great amount of recognition. This award will honour professional individuals or groups who are outstanding within their professional discipline, They may be doctors, dentists, financial analysts, bankers, insurance professionals and the like.
HOME-BASED BUSINESS AWARD
A business which is operated out of the residence of the owner. Offers a unique or innovative product or service. May have a unique niche market, has experienced or deemed potential to experience significant growth.
NEW BUSINESS AWARD
Business that first commenced business or first offering of securities to the public within the previous twenty-four months; new or innovative products/services; highly successful or high potential of success (sales/growth/employees); demonstrated potential growth.
GOOD NEIGHBOUR AWARD
Not an easy category to define per se. It is more than likely a story that will be judged on its own merits. It should be a good news story such as special occurrence, a generous act of kindness, and indeed may be simply a story of how someone went the extra mile for you or an acquaintance of yours.
EXCEPTIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE AWARD
Exceptional help to customers; training to employees that includes service standards, value added at no extra charge; follow-up after sale policies; extension of and performance on warranties and guarantees.
