Exactly 40 business people (Nepean Chamber members and their guests) attended today’s 7 am business breakfast at East Side Mario’s Bells Corners location (owned by Grant Webb, Nepean Chamber member).
Virginia Boro, The Chair of our Chamber, opened the meeting with an announcement about July 14th golf tournament, The 3rd Annual Cheryl Mousseau Classic. Currently, over 100 golfers are registered and all hole sponsorships are sold but we are still looking for golfers, “dinner-only” reservations and prize donations.
Grant Mellow, the chair of the Business Awards Committee, explained the criteria and nomination deadline for the 2010 Business Achievement Awards. Deadline for Nominations is 12-noon Friday, September 10, 2010 and the Business Awards Ceremony will take place on October 21st, 2010 at Centurion Conference Centre
Julia Borgan’s special web presentation and unveiling of the Chamber’s new website was met with a round of applause and excitement. The new website’s clean, fresh and professional look has an advanced functionality and will bring more value to Chamber members’ business and attract more future members and visitors to our events.
After that, everyone grabbed a delicious buffet breakfast and gave a 30-second informercial on their businesses.
We also enjoyed hearing from Rod Vanier who is running for Ottawa City Council.
The lucky winner of $90 “50/50 draw” was Sylvia Hogeveen of RE/MAX who also brought visitors to the breakfast. We would like to thank her for supporting the Chamber in so many ways! Sylvia’s guest, Barbara Munshaw of WSI, is the winner of East Side Mario’s gift certificate door prize. Barbara has since decided to become a member and will also volunteer to help the Chamber with their social media strategy implementation (the Chamber will be actively using LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook to communicate with the members).
Thank you to all who attended, it was fun, friendly and a very productive meeting. Special thanks to the Nepean Chamber’s tireless and the most enthusiastic Office Manager, Soula Burrell, who not only handles registration and organizational details of the Chamber events but also runs the office and enrolls new members at an astounding rate.
Big thank you to our member Sylvain Renaud of Reno Video Production for filming & producing video recaps of the most recent Chamber’s events .

It was my first networking breakfast with this group and I found the people very welcoming and professional. Thanks for the great experience.
Congratulations to the Nepean Chamber and Aborg Computing for developing and implementing the new website.
I’m sure it will become a great tool for marketing the Chamber and keeping members informed.
I’m impressed!
